As a conductor and soloist, Trevor Pinnock is one of the pioneers of performing baroque and classical music on period instruments. To this end, he founded The English Concert and the European Brandenburg Ensemble. In collaboration with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, this is a unique opportunity to witness his insightful and original readings of Mozart and Beethoven’s orchestral music. For her part, the sublime Maria João Pires takes the Gulbenkian Music stage for the second time in 20/21. Beethoven is one of the composers she never strays too far from, considering that “he was an enlightened one, a messenger to humanity”.
